Changes in delivery to the European Union
On 1 July 2021, EU countries changed the way they charge VAT on imported goods. Unlike previously, orders of all values are charged VAT. The amount can be collected at point of sale as long as the seller registers with the EU. Unfortunately, sellers in the UK cannot do this at the moment without going through a VAT intermediary. These intermediaries charge fees that are not affordable for microbusinesses like mine, so I am suspending shipment to EU countries for the time being. The UK tax agency (HMRC) has indicated that there will be an opportunity for UK sellers to register directly with the EU in the future, but this still not possible.
But fear not! If you are in the EU and would like to purchase from me, you can do it through my Etsy shop instead of my website. As an online marketplace, Etsy handles VAT remittance to the EU. Once I am able to register directly with the EU, I will do so and begin shipping worldwide again. Apologies for this inconvenience, hopefully it will only be for a short while.
